Acquiring a property at Pokolbin in 1895, John Younie Tulloch turned its neglected Shiraz vines into the Tulloch's first vintage. After a period of corporate ownership, Tulloch was bought back by John's grandson Jay in 2001.
Occupying a prime location in the Hunter Valley, Tulloch's cellar door is a popular Hunter venue. Their Pokolbin estate vineyard at the foot of the Brokenback range grows the region's celebrated varieties Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon. Grapes are also sourced from other Hunter vineyards including Inglewood Vineyards. Their more alternative varieties come from emerging regions such as the King Valley (Prosecco) and Young (Sangiovese).
Tulloch's winemaking is handled by First Creek Wine Services. The lead wine is Hector Shiraz, made only in exceptional vintages. The Private Bin Dry Red Shiraz and Julia Semillon are not far behind.
